Broward County is a county in southeastern Florida, US. According to a 2018 census report, the county had a population of 1,951,260, making it the second-most populous county in the state of Florida and the 17th-most populous county in the United States. The county seat is Fort Lauderdale. Broward County is one of the three counties in South Florida that make up the Miami metropolitan area, which was home to an estimated 6,198,782 people in 2018.
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has an area of 1,323 square miles (3,430 km²), of which 1,210 square miles (3,100 km²) is land and 113 square miles (290 km²) (8.5%) is water.
